Socrates
I took philosophy in Post Secondary the 2nd time around. Not that I hadn’t heard of Socrates before that, I just acquired more respect for the man.
What I loved about what he did was admit he knew nothing. It is said that he went on a search for the wisest ‘man’ in the known world. And what he found was that there is no such thing. (Cuz it’s a woman :D)
There is no such thing as a wisest person because there is always someone who knows more about something than you do.
I find this a true humbling idea. My hope is that more people figure this out. I am fairly certain that one of the worlds greatest problems is that there are too many people out there who think they ARE the wisest person, and that just isn’t possible.
Socrates knew this over 400 years before the comment calendar. (for those of you who do the math, that’s 2024 + (400+) years)
