My Truth as an Author

For anyone paying attention, I have been writing something about my book or my author’s journey on Sundays for the past while.

I have been reading so much about how to become a successful author. How to promote, what to say, what I ‘should’ be doing…

One of the things that so many say, and I don’t see any controversy, is that an author has to read. Like, all the time.

Another thing that seems to be consistent is that an author, in their posts, need to be authentic. Themselves. That that is what people want to read about when they are reading about an author.

Well… this is my dilemma. I don’t read that much anymore. I do, read that is, but not that much. I don’t have a book going at all times. I have a ‘want to read’ list. I just don’t make the time to read. I could go into a lot of ‘reasons’ this is happening, but they really are excuses (see my post Excuses vs Reasons).

I watch T.V. That is what I like to do for my entertainment. I stream all the time (and I have a lot of time). I love movies of many different genre. I like many different kinds of series too.

I have trouble reading (dyslexia) and I am a visual person. So this is my truth. I get my inspiration and imagination more from watching than reading.

So, don’t be surprised to find more posts about shows I’ve watched than books I’ve read. If I want people to believe in me, I need to be me.
