Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

The Telephone

What?!!?? You say. The Telephone!!!???! We still have phones! You say. Cindee, You’re Daft! You say.

Am I, though? Think about it. We have phones, or cell phone. We don’t have telephones anymore. I am talking about that thing that was attached to the house. That had a cord, that ran through the wall to the outside, along the telephone polls to the operating base through other telephone polls to the house of your friends and to their telephone and to them. There was, literally, a connection. You were tethered to the other person while you spoke.

I believe that that connection has been lost. We no longer give the person we are talking to (if we even talk and don’t text) our fullest attention. We don’t stop what we are doing and talk anymore. There is no excitement when the telephone rings. Nor anticipation when making a telephone call. When the telephone was attached to the wall in the kitchen, you were only able to talk to your friends, or colleagues, or telemarketers for that matter, when you were home and the choice was made to answer. There were rules about when to call people, and how to answer the call. There was mutual respect between caller and receiver. There were only human voices on the other end. And there was appreciation when the other person answered your call. That is all gone now.

So, Yes, I miss the telephone. I believe it is technology that is outdated and I do miss it.
