As you may know I have chronic back pain. Truth is I have an reoccurring back issue that causes me to reinjure myself with the slightest movement and that causes the pain.
I also have this issue with my nerves in my lower back that cause excruciating pain. This I am able to lessen with radiofrequency ablation. This gives me about a year of less pain, enough so that I can function.
This is my life. I never know if I am going to be ‘able’ any given day. Whether or not I am going to be able to get out of bed, or walk on my own.
Well, the ablation that I got last year worn off this week. I bent down too many times Tuesday and now I am in so much pain I can barely breath.
But I am Thankful. I am thankful that I can get the health care I need with a couple of phone calls, I don’t know yet how long until I can have another procedure, although I know I will be seen as soon as able. I am thankful that I do not have to worry about the cost of such things. I do not have to chose between eating and my health. I am thankful that I even have a GP that can give me the referral that I need. I am thankful that I have the support of an amazing man who helps me with whatever I need no matter what. And I am thankful that I am able to deal with the pain and am still breathing.
I choose to see the best in my situation. It isn’t always easy and I won’t pretend that I can do it always. It is a choice. Abraham Lincoln said “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” I have made up my mind to be happy.
