Negativity is contagious

My first career was in hospitality. I started in the industry when I was fifteen and worked until maternity for my first born. I learned a lot and have many stories.

This one is how I personally experienced negativity and how I started it.

I was working graveyard shifts, 11:00pm to 7:00am. On this particular day I had had a bad one and I went into work with a really crappy attitude. My night did not improve my mood and when the morning shift came in I was not pleasant to them. I complained and bitched about whatever it was that bugged me that night and left them with all my shit.

Sixteen hours later when I returned to work, even though it was different people on shift, I got back what I had dished out 10 fold. It didn’t take me long to understand that the afternoon shift was giving me what the morning shift had given them, which is what I had started when I gave it to the morning shift.

From that day on, I have done my very best not to pass on my (or anyone else’s) shit. It’s mine and I need to keep it to myself.
