One of the things at the top of my list of things I don’t like is: People saying they didn’t have a choice.
You ALWAYS have a choice. At least between two things. They may be a rock and a hard place, seeming the same but they are different. You may be given choices that are designed to create a situation that you choose one particular way, but you ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE.
For example. I used to give my children this choice when they misbehaved: “Continue this behaviour and you will get this consequence. Stop now and you will get this one.” or this one: “You can go and get you jammies on now without incident and we can watch a movie or you can argue with me and get your jammies on now and go straight to bed.” As you can see, I got what I wanted either way. My son called me on it by the time he was 10. “Mom, you know you are just making it so you get your way, you aren’t really giving us a choice,” he said to me. “You do have a choice, it can go hard or easy, that is a choice in life.” Was the response I gave him.
Point is. We all ALWAYS have a choice. Sometimes that choice may be death (at the extreme) but it still ours to make. So take responsibility for your actions. No one MAKES you do anything you don’t want to do. It can go easy or hard. That’s your choice.
