Not an uncommon question. I think children all over the world at one time or another have asked themselves what power they would ask for if they could. My daughter asked this of me when she was a tween (we were watching Supernatural [yes you can question my parenting skills… I stand by them they are great adults] at the time). She said that she would want the power of “Previously On…” The ability to have flashbacks to her past on things that would be relevant today. For some of you, you now understand the significance of Supernatural. Their ‘previously on’ could be something from the last episode or of seasons past. I thought this was brilliant! I thought about how I would always know the names of people who I had meet in the past that I would run into that day… She was thinking about not having to study for tests anymore.
Then she asked me what mine would be… all the ones I could think of paled in comparison… flying, going through walls, being invisible… hers was truly astonishing and completely out of the box. I’ve thought about that on and off since.
I think I have finally come up with something worthy… the ability to take away hate. If I could, I would take away hate in anyone I came across. Not just, poof, take it away, but really take it away. Take away the Reasons someone hates. Give them the ability to not hate again in the future. For I don’t think hate is just about one thing. If someone is really hateful there is probably a reason for that. I want to take that away.
