Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Pretty straight forward, right? Treat others as you would want them to treat you. Or is it.
Think about this for a moment. To help I would like you to think about a dinner party. After dinner, before the dessert comes out. Your the host, you go to offer your guest an after dinner drink. Now, what is YOUR favorite drink? By Golden Rule standards you would bring out YOUR drink to everyone. Would that make them happy?
Now consider this… The Platinum Rule. Treat others the way they want to be treated. In my above example, everyone would get the drink that THEY wanted.
I want to take it one step further… what if we treated everyone the way they treated others? What would we call this rule? What would happen? I can’t decide if the world would be better off or worse.
