It’s Father’s day and everyone out there is going to post about thier dad. There are a lot of hero dads out there and each and every single one of them deserves to be acknowledged and bragged about…
But Mine is the BEST! I could write a book on the things that my dad taught me, and maybe one day I will. For now though I am going to try to keep it to the top ten.
10. Only speak when you have something worthy to say. (this is 10 as I haven’t truly learned it yet.)
9. You never have to prove your the smartest person in the room. Shut up. Let other figure it out on their own.
8. Give support in your own way. Not the way other people tell you you should.
7. Everyone is worthy of your trust, compasion and understanding. Not everyone is worth your time.
6. Religion doesn’t matter. Who the person is, does. (BTW he was/is an ordained baptist minister)
5. It takes no effort to show up.
4. Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. (OK. Dr. Seuss said those words, but my dad taught me the lesson) Different is good. Be exotic, be weird, be true to yourself.
3. Humor is best served subtly.
2. I am loved.
1. Be the person you can be, not the person you have to be.
My dad is not the person who gave me life. Not once in my 50+ years has he ever made me feel like I wasn’t his daughter or that he didn’t love me to the ends of the earth.
