I shared in a former post “A world without time”, that I am on disability and time, as most people know it, doesn’t pertain to me.
Well, when there is no time clock to punch and no one looking over your shoulder it can be hard to get anything done. Throw in chronic pain, when a flare-up is always a possibility, and you can get your self into some real trouble. It can really be hard to self motivate. It can be so easy to sit around and watch T.V. Convincing yourself ‘your doing research’ or ‘looking for inspiration’. The truth is, it’s a form of procrastination, and I am struggling with keeping up the daily writing and self promoting.
I am really trying to get this self promotion thing off to a good to great start. Thank the universe that I can create multiple posts and schedule them for the future. And there is a lot of ‘help’ out there, yet I am finding myself in need. But in need of what? That is the question I am truly struggling with.
I go on my social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and Goodreads) and read other people’s posts. I comment when something strikes me. I spend time looking for groups to join, asking some questions. Not always getting replies. I don’t really understand this world of social media (my friends on my personal Facebook account can attest to that). I am a natural extrovert, so this interacting with people via my laptop is very uncomfortable for me. I would much rather go out into the world and network face to face… unfortunately my back no longer makes that a viable full time option.
My time with Mary Kay taught me that I am not very good at self accountability. That time also taught me that motivation comes from within while inspiration comes from outside. Alas, I am here asking again, What is it that I need?
